Celebrating 10 years of Ellie Mae
1st October 2027 should have been Ellie’s 10th birthday. Double digits – usually a landmark birthday. Team Ellie Mae wants to mark the occasion by raising £10,000 in a year – can you help us?
Paul and Sarah (Ellie’s Mum and Dad) will be honoring Ellie’s short but precious life by running The London Marathon in April 2027. While Sarah is a self-confessed fitness addict, her runs her usually punctuated every 1km by a Hyrox fitness station or an OCR obstacle or mud pitt. She last ran a half-marathon pre-kids in 2012 so she’s a little nervous of the training and distance!! Paul loves to run but pacing himself isn’t his strong point and in the last few years he’s been nursing a number of hip, groin and leg injuries more months than he’s actually been running. But it wouldn’t be a landmark fundraiser for Ellie if there wasn’t a level challenge involved so we can channel her warrior spirit.
Please donate to our efforts if you can at our JustGiving page.

Ellie’s family and friends are committed to raising awareness of mitochondrial disease and raising money to support vital research into these life-limiting conditions.
As of August 2026, we have raised an incredible £33,000 through events such as The gruelling Jurassic Coast walk, fun days and raffles, marathons, cake sales, dog walks and decluttering projects.
We have also worked with Romsey Abbey to ‘light up green’ in Mitochondrial Disease Awareness week in 2019.
We have also painted rocks in Ellie’s memory to spread her name and raise awareness.
During COVID we also ran our Lockdown 2.6 challenge where 26 family and friends took on their own challenge in memory of Ellie.
